The service
Why rent Cangubox instead of buying cardboard boxes?
Because cardboard boxes have to be bought, assembled, reinforced with tape and then disposed of, and in the meantime they take up space at home. The Cangubox arrive ready, close with their lid, and at the end of the move we come and collect them. You pay for the use, not the object, and you're left with nothing to throw away.
How many Cangubox do I need for my move?
As a guide: 20 for a studio or one-bedroom flat, 35 for a two-bedroom flat, 50 for a large home. If you're not sure, the configurator on the home page gives you a recommendation in four questions. If you're torn between two sizes, bear in mind that the boxes you don't use go back with the others, with no extra work for you. Running out halfway through packing instead means stopping, going out to buy cardboard and ending up with boxes to assemble and then dispose of: that is exactly what renting is meant to avoid.
Do I need to register to book?
No. You choose kit, dates and delivery, leave your contact details for the appointments and pay. There's no account to create.
How far in advance do I need to book?
We need 3 working days' notice: that's the time it takes us to prepare the boxes and fit the round in. Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays don't count, so if you book on a Wednesday the first available date is the following Monday. The calendar already shows you only the days you can choose. You can book up to 120 days ahead.
The boxes
Do I need tape?
No, and that's one of the reasons they exist. The lid is built in and closes without tape: no rolls to buy, no bottom to reinforce, no tape to peel off when you unpack.
How do they close?
The lid is in two halves hinged on the long sides: you lower them and they lock into each other. To open them, just lift them. There's nothing to assemble and nothing to remove.
Can I stack them?
Yes: they're rigid and the lid is flat, so they sit one on top of the other without the play you get with cardboard. Put the heaviest ones (books, crockery) at the bottom of the stack, and don't build columns taller than you can control on your own. When empty, with the flaps open, they nest inside each other: the ones you've already unpacked wait for collection in a low pile, without getting in the way.
Are they clean? Who used them before me?
Every Cangubox is checked and washed after it comes back, before it goes out again. If it is damaged or cannot be brought back to our cleaning standards, it is not put back into circulation: you receive it clean, dry and ready to fill.
What can I put in the Cangubox?
The things of an ordinary move: clothes, linen, books, well-protected crockery, toys, household items and documents. On weight, a practical rule applies: if you can't lift it comfortably on your own, take something out. For appliances, write to us first, so we can tell you whether it fits.
To let us keep every Cangubox clean and safe for whoever uses it after you, don't use it for waste; paints, solvents, fuels or other chemicals; flammable, corrosive or hazardous substances; loose or opened food; liquids that are not perfectly sealed; soil, plants or organic material; materials that are very dirty, wet, or that could leave persistent smells or residues.
If in doubt about a particular item, write to us before putting it in.
How do I move twenty boxes on my own?
With the Dolly, the trolley included in every rental, both with home delivery and if you come to the CanguPoint yourself: a platform on four swivel castors you stack the Cangubox on and push instead of carrying them by hand. It takes up to 400 kg, so the limit isn't the trolley but how high you can stack while still seeing where you're going. In corridors, in lifts and on landings it changes everything. It goes back with the boxes at the end of the rental, and costs nothing extra.
How big are they?
Each Cangubox measures 60 × 40 × 36 cm on the outside (length × depth × height) and has a capacity of 68 litres. If you have a bulky item and want to know whether it fits, write to us before booking: we'll tell you.
How much weight can they hold?
Each Cangubox takes up to 30 kg of contents. That's the box's limit, not a target: 30 kilos of books are hard to lift on your own, so with heavy things it's better to stop earlier and spread them over several boxes instead of filling one to the top. The practical rule stays the same: if you can't lift it comfortably, take something out.
Delivery and collection
Can you deliver them to the old home and collect them at the new one?
Yes. We can deliver the Cangubox to the address you're leaving and come and collect them directly at your new home. At the moment the service is available only if both the delivery address and the collection address of the Cangubox are within our active area. We don't do the move itself, we rent out the boxes and collect them: if you're moving outside the area, for example from Milan to Bologna, today we can't deliver them in Milan and come and collect them in Bologna. The service is currently available in Milan, in the covered postcodes of its hinterland and in the province of Monza and Brianza. Enter your postcode to check right away whether we deliver to you.
Which areas do you cover?
The service is currently available in Milan, in the covered postcodes of its hinterland and in the province of Monza and Brianza. Enter your postcode to check right away whether we deliver to you. We don't publish a list of towns because the postcode check is the only one that really counts, and if we're not there yet you can leave us your email: we open new areas by following requests.
Can I come and collect them in person?
Yes: collection and return at the CanguPoint are free, and you're the one who comes by to pick them up and bring them back. It's just outside Milan: you see the exact address while booking, before paying, and you find it again in the order confirmation. We agree on when to come by after the booking. The two trips are chosen separately, and each one to your door costs €18: you can have the boxes delivered and bring them back yourself, or pick them up in person and have us collect them.
What happens if I'm not there for the collection?
We agree on a time slot and let you know before we come. Something come up? Contact us as soon as possible: we'll do what we can to reschedule the collection based on availability. If instead we come and find nobody in, the trip has to be made again: any costs are communicated to you before we set off again, never afterwards.
Prices and payment
2 weeks, 4 or more: which is best?
Rental starts from 2 weeks, which is enough for a straightforward move: a few days to pack, the move itself, the time to unpack. Four are worth it if the work on the new home isn't finished or if you're moving in two stages. Doubling the time doesn't double the price, so if in doubt the longer option costs less than two separate rentals. If you need them for longer, choose "Over 4 weeks" and the return date: the extra days are charged at a daily rate, and you see the price before confirming.
How does payment work?
You pay everything at booking, by card, on a secure payment page: your card details never pass through our servers. The card stays registered with Stripe for up to 30 days after the end of the rental, and is used only for the cases listed in the terms: boxes that don't come back, damage beyond normal use, days kept beyond the date. We don't make automatic charges without telling you: any additional costs, such as an extension or a box that doesn't come back, are always communicated to you before the charge.
What if I break a box?
They're made of rigid plastic, not cardboard, so they take far more than a cardboard box. The marks of normal use are included in the rental and we don't charge you for them. If instead a box really breaks or doesn't come back, we write to you telling you how much it costs: we don't charge anything before letting you know.
What happens if I need them for longer?
Need the Cangubox for longer? You can extend the rental from the customer area: choose the new collection date and, before you confirm, we always show you the cost of the extension. The minimum extension is 7 days and it must be requested at least 3 working days before the collection date. If the boxes are already booked by someone else on those days, we tell you straight away.
Can I return them early?
Yes. The rental, though, is paid for the period you chose, and the days you don't use are not refunded. If you chose home collection, write to us to agree on a date earlier than the planned one.
